Summary

Shoe pullers or "pull-offs" are large and heavy nippers used to remove shoes. These are not to be confused with hoof nippers.

These have heavier jaws than hoof nippers and the jaws have a beveled edge when viewed from the side. They can be used to pull a nail out of the foot in an emergency. Unlike hoof nippers, their heavy jaws are useful for nipping horseshoe nails off. They have little value for nipping off hoof.

As with all horse shoeing equipment, these come in a variety of grades. You do not need an expensive shoe puller, just a basic one.
