Summary
Catheter tip syringes have a large conical tip, and are very useful for giving oral medications. The most commonly used size is 60ml.
If tablets dissolve easily in water, follow this procedure to make a wet paste: Remove the plunger, add the tablets to the barrel, add water to a line midway between the top of the tablets and the capacity of the syringe. Now, replace the plunger and cover the syringe tip with a finger and vigorously shake for 30 seconds. When done, you should be able to invert the syringe and see that all the tabs are in solution.
These can be reused many times. Consider applying A & D ointment or mineral oil to the plunger to keep it supple.
These syringes are also useful for flushing of large draining tracts and abscesses.
It may make sense to pick several of these up from your vet so you don't have to purchase a large box which you may not use.
