Summary
This condition has a different pathologic origin than EGUS (classic Equine Gastric Ulcer Syndrome).
Ulceration and inflammation in the outflow part of the stomach (antrum or pylorus of the stomach) is not as common as EGUS but is more common than previously suspected.
This can only be diagnosed with a 3 meter gastroscope. Diagnosis requires more manipulation of the scope to reach this area. This diagnosis is possible for a horse with undiagnosed chronic recurrent low-grade colic.
