"Stove Up"

Summary

A slang term for a human, horse or any other animal that is or seems to be suffering physical discomfort. This discomfort might have been caused by injury, illness, excessive exercise, or overwork.

When you are "stove up", you usually know why. However, when you see a horse that is "stove up", you don't necessarily know why, and it is cause for further investigation.

In this circumstance, I suggest you browse the list of over 650 Observations in Horse Side Vet Guide, and try to find an observation that better describes what you notice about your horse. For example, is his leg swollen, is he lame, is he rolling on the ground, off feed, etc...

Try to find a more specific description of the problem in HSVG, and that will give you a better starting point for addressing any equine health-related issue.
